Gazprom sees Europe requiring less gas to replenish storages

MOSCOW, Apr 17 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom expects that Europe will require less gas in 2019 than in previous years to replenish its reserves in underground torage facilities, the company said in a statement Wednesday.

By the start of the pumping season the volume of Gazprom’s active gas in the European storage facilities amounted to 5 billion cubic meters, which is three times more than at the beginning of the previous pumping season. Gazprom said it pumped 1.4 billion cubic meters of gas into the European storage facilities from March 6 through Monday, boosting the volume of active gas to 6.4 billion cubic meters.

“The speed of gas taking from the European underground storage facilities in the heating season of 2018–2019 was significantly influenced by the warm weather,” Gazprom said.
